This technique was learned during a two day class with gifted northern California quilter, Laura Fogg.

Technique: Free-motion quilting traps fabric scraps and yarn beneath a layer of tulle, which was then fixed in place with a hand-sewn waterfall of mylar thread and tiny crystal beads. Additional foreground leaves were machine appliquéd on top of the tulle and, rather than trying to force the image to conform to a rectangular shape, I placed it on top of a separate backing quilt, softening the transition between the two with free-form layers of tulle.
