Arlington Row in Bibury Village
2018, 46″ w x 36″ h
The great Art Nouveau designer, William Morris, is quoted as having said that Bibury was the most beautiful village in the Cotswolds, England – and I agree! To honor this lovely place, I created this scene using my fabric collage techniques – but this time the tulle overlay was pink, rather than the usual black to accentuate the soft, romantic atmosphere.
Technique: Extensive free-motion machine quilting was enhanced by a hand appliquéd border of thorny vines, leaves and beaded roses. The musicians were constructed on interfacing, and the faces, hands and feet were drawn with Caran d’Ache pencils. .
